The film has already caused a stir due to its explicit ten minute long sex scene.

But one guest clearly felt the spotlight wasn’t on La Vie d'Adele quite enough, so decided to put on a very cheeky show on the red carpet during it's premiere in Cannes on Thursday.

While the cast of the three hour French lesbian coming of age story posed proudly, an unknown attendee stole the show as she approached them – flashing her derriere in the process.

As the blonde, who doesn’t appear to be in the film, made her way to greet the cast her cream skirt blew up showing she was wearing nothing underneath.

Unaware of her flashing the guest leant in to kiss the stars but while bending over the inner ring inside the skirt, which helped it keep its shape lifted up and she began to show more and more of her shapely behind.

Fortunately one the cast quickly noticed the faux pas and began to help her retain a little modesty as she patted it down at the back.

Not worried about being upstage the cast seemed to find the situation amusing and were not shocked which is no surprise considering the content of the film.

The film, which is competing for the Palme d’Or Prize, stars Adele Exarchopoulos who plays the 15-year-old protagonist.

Adele stunned on the red carpet wearing an intricate looking black and silver check dress, with plenty of embellishment on it.

Speaking about his decision to focus on the protagonist’s mouth through the film, he said: ‘It is not something that you think about, really, but close-ups allow you to capture very subtle expressions that you don't always see in real life.’

He also opened up about the already famous sex scene, he said: ‘We hope that in the scenes, the idea of beauty will emerge.

‘I think sexuality is more difficult to film and capture on screen. Sensuality is more difficult to film in meal scenes. Even if it's not easy in sex scenes, you already have the sculpture of the bodies, the lights and the beauty of the faces.’

La Vie d'Adele is set to be released in France on 9 October.
